Cavity detection in teeth for decades has relied solely on X-rays, visual observation and physical evaluation. Unfortunately, due to the nature of early cavity formation, these methods to do always prove effective in positively diagnosing tooth decay. Recently our office has aquired a new technology for decay detection. Using a blue fluorescent light within an intraoral camera, we are now able to illuminate teeth and and evaluate the morphology of the tooth for decay with extreme accuracy. Locating and restoring teeth with early decay means smaller fillings, healthy tooth preservation, and a better chance you will keep those teeth for a lifetime.
